Chattanooga’s Abbey Cornelius was named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today.

Cornelius, a graduate student, carries a 3.97 GPA, working towards her Masters in Business Administration.

Last week the Mocs center helped UTC to back-to-back wins over UNC Asheville and King University to improve its record to 5-3 on the year. Cornelius posted her first double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds against King.
She was perfect from the free throw line against the Bulldogs and averaged 10 points and seven rebounds per game on the week.

This is the fifth time in three seasons that Cornelius has earned the honor. She was selected twice in each of the last two seasons.

Chattanooga travels to Georgia State Wednesday night to take on the Panthers in Atlanta. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m. Follow all the action online at GoMocs.com.
