Physician Was Avid Golfer And Tennessee Vols Fan

Dr. Eric Anthony Crabtree, 43, of Gadsden, Alabama, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 5, 2022.

A longtime resident of Chattanooga, Dr. Crabtree attended Brainerd Baptist School as a young man and was a 1998 graduate of McCallie School where he graduated Cum Laude. He graduated Cum Laude in 2002 from East Tennessee State University and was a member of the Golden Key Honor Society.

Dr. Crabtree later graduated in 2009 from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and in 2014 from St. John’s Episcopal General Surgery Residency in New York where he served as chief resident.

He served on several board committees including the Cancer Board, Gadsden Regional Medical Center, chief of staff and a member of the Medical Executive Board at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Al.

At the time of his passing he practiced at the Crabtree Surgical Clinic in Gadsden, Al.

Dr. Crabtree was a longtime member of Harmony Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer, Tennessee Vols fan and enjoyed traveling with family.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Ruth Bost, and Raymond and Shirley Crabtree.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Crawford Crabtree and son, Davis Anthony Crabtree; mother, Shirley Crabtree, Chattanooga; father, Tony (Gail) Crabtree, Wilsonville, Al.; uncle and aunt, Danny and Nancy Bost, Ooltewah; and several cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service for Eric will be held on Monday, Dec. 12, at noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Fred Russell and Rev. Randy Bell officiating. Burial will be private with Shannon Sullivan, John David Cason, Daniel Bost, Ryan Bost, Danny Bost, and Eric Paul serving as pallbearers.
