New BARQUE Opens On East Main Street

  • Thursday, February 17, 2022

BARQUE, at 2309 E. Main St. is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is offering locally sourced ingredients, diverse barbecue styles (everything from Texas to Kansas City), vegetarian and vegan options, and specials that change weekly.

BARQUE offers dine-in (with an outdoor patio), online ordering, delivery, takeout, curbside, office lunches for the crews at work, and catering for special events. Barque is also about community—and is excited to be a part of the growing East Main corridor—so check social media posts and calendar for events that pair well with BBQ, including live music.

General Manager Marcus Willis hails from Austin, Tx. but has called Chattanooga home for many years now. He has previously served on teams at Food Works, Deep Bistro as the executive chef, Table 2, and Parkway Pourhouse as the original chef. He is a professionally trained chef and has experience in the world of barbecue.

Mr. Willis said, “Growing up in central Texas, BBQ was a staple on our dinner table. I have loved BBQ for as long as I can remember. I have been to all of the BBQ ‘hot spots’ around the country and have deep appreciation for the unique qualities of each. I have taken what I like from all of them and now apply it to the way I approach my own style of cooking. While my first love is Texas BBQ, I feel that influence from all over has found its way into my style.

"I have worked in many segments of the industry from short order to fine dining. I look forward to applying all of my knowledge and technique to the menu at BARQUE for a unique and exciting BBQ experience. Chattanooga became my home many years ago, I started a family here, and I am very excited to share my passion for food with the community.”

BARQUE is supported by CAPACITY, a local strategic advisory group and investment fund focused on helping underestimated businesses grow to their potential. As part of the community, BARQUE also supports FABRIC, a platform empowering the community to support locally-owned restaurants while addressing food insecurity and other community needs.
