The Chattanooga Historical Society Hosts David Carroll

  • Wednesday, March 30, 2022

David Carroll will be speaking to the Chattanooga Historical Society on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Public Library.

Go back in time with the history of Chattanooga broadcasting, dating back to 1925. It features local legends like Luther Masingill, Bob Brandy, Mort Lloyd, "Miss Marcia" Kling, Tommy Jett, and the other faces and voices who have entertained and informed Tennessee Valley residents for almost a century.

Mr. Carroll will play many sounds and sights, including the earliest known recording of Chattanooga broadcasting.

He will also be discussing his new book, "Hello Chattanooga." It lists visitors to the Scenic City from each category in chronological order, beginning in 1900, continuing to the present day.

Mr. Carroll said, “The Chattanooga area has attracted some of the best-known celebrities and entertainers in the world, thanks to our historic venues, beautiful scenery, and powerful people. This book will finally give readers the opportunity to settle a few arguments as they learn the dates and places that your favorite star (or president) visited here.”

This event is free to the public.
