Viola Ellison Kilgore
Viola Ellison Kilgore, 82, of Ooltewah, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022.
Mrs. Kilgore was born and raised in Kings Mountain, N.C. She retired from Spartanburg County, South Carolina School district having worked at various schools including a year at the School for the Deaf & Blind. Viola was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church and also enjoyed volunteering and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwin and Bertha Ellison; brothers, Melvin and James Ellison; and sisters, Nellie Mae Thrift and Ruth Cook.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, John David Kilgore; children, John C. Kilgore (Kimberly) of Belton, SC and Janina K. Steele (Jeff) of Ooltewah; and grandchildren, Tyler Kilgore of Greenville, SC, Paul and Thomas Steele of Ooltewah, and Jason Bright of Laurens, SC.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be announced. Interment will be at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Military Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
