Goodman, Ethelle Emeline (Cleveland)

Ethelle Emeline Geren Goodman, 83, went to her heavenly home after a lengthy illness from strokes on April 19, 2022 at her house, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Bobby Joe Goodman; her parents, Joe Cephas and Edna Geren; father- and mother-in-law, Robert and Irene Goodman; brother, Rick Geren; brother-in-law, Dennis Burns; and best friend, Rebecca Woody.

She is survived by her two daughters, Rhonda Goodman McAlister (David) and Schonna Goodman Linn (Eddie); her four grandchildren, Tiffany McAlister Sims (Dustin), Daniel McAlister (Ashley), Kent Linn and Ashley Linn; nine great-grandchildren, Kynslei, Kyra, Lance, Lyla, Duke and Dylauni Sims and June, Mason and Steele McAlister; her brother, Joe Cephas Geren, Jr. (Judy); and sister, Rita Geren Burns; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her best friend, Linda Murray and her son, Tim Murray (Cathy).

She worked more than 30 years at Prospect School cafeteria, where she retired. She also worked at Frazier Manufactory, Burlington Woolen Mill and Dooley Drug Store.

She was a Christian and charter member of Tasso Baptist Church. She was a devoted Children’s Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher. Some of the hobbies she enjoyed were cooking, watching movies, hosting parties and spending time with family and friends. She was known for the care, love and laughter that she shared with everyone around her. Family and friends will greatly miss her presence.

The graveside service will be held on Saturday April 23 at 4 p.m. at Fort Hill Cemetery. Officiating the graveside service will be Pastor Tim Woody, along with Pastor Johnathon Powell. 

Companion Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. 

Instead of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made to Tasso Baptist Church, 164 Old Charlestion Road, Cleveland, Tn. 37312, St. Jude’s Hospital or the American Stroke Association.
