Good Works Art & Social, an art studio where customers can learn to paint, DIY, gather and sip, will be opening its doors from noon until 6 p.m. on Saturday and will provide free refreshments and walk-in opportunities for art projects ranging from $34 to $64.

Located at 2244 Dayton Blvd. in Red Bank, Good Works will feature two main areas.  One area will be a working studio where scheduled classes will be conducted for guided painting and wood home decor. The second area will serve as a gallery and artist retail, featuring local artists' work for sale.

Owners Courtney and Cody Workman live in Red Bank and wanted to be part of the growth and excitement they have witnessed in their city over the last three years. Mrs. Workman teaches art at Red Bank Elementary and believes that her art expertise combined with her husband’s business experience along with the support of the Red Bank community and Chattanooga will make for a thriving business.

The Workmans placed an emphasis on the building space itself, curating a studio that combines inspiring beauty and a sense of home. They renovated a lot of the 1930s building in order to expose its stunning bones. Mr. and Mrs. Workman have been intentional about each arch way, wall, and corner, envisioning how people will walk through and experience the studio. Their hope is that when people walk into their studio, they will be inspired to create and will want to stay a while because they are in a beautiful space.

Good Works Art & Social will be offering painting classes and DIY wood home décor/backyard projects.  Although the Workmans will teach a specific project, customers will have the opportunity to choose their own color pallet and alter it to fit their taste and home aesthetics.  The goal for Good Works is that the customer will be able to paint or design something that they would proudly hang or use in their home.

The Workmans plan to offer art summer camp for children ages 8-12.  They also have plans to offer private and group after-school art lessons for students ages 8-17.  More information will soon be available on their website, which is currently under construction.

When asked about the name of the business, Mrs. Workman said, “The name comes from one of our favorite verses in scripture. Ephesians 2:10: ‘For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.’  We decided to use this verse for the name of our business because we believe because we are made in God's image who is the greatest creator, then we are made to create... and to create Good Works.”

A grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting is scheduled for noon on Saturday, June 4.  Find more information on their Facebook page @goodworksartandsocial or on Instagram goodworksartsocial or contact Mr. and Mrs. Workman at goodworksartsocial@gmail.com.
