Knoxville-based Petro’s Chili & Chips is in the final stages of prepping its newest location and is set to open its doors on Thursday with a soft opening. The official grand opening is scheduled to take place on Saturday. The restaurant, which will be drive-thru only, is located at 5114 Highway 153.
To celebrate the opening, the restaurant will be rewarding every customer who signs up for the Petro’s Loyalty Program within its first 14 days of being open with a free small Petro.
Additionally, anyone signs up as a a loyalty member within the initial 14 days will also be entered into contest to win free Petro’s Chili & Chips for an entire year. At the end of the two-week mark, the Petro’s team will draw 50 random winners to take home the prize.
First emerging over 35 years ago during Knoxville’s 1982 World’s Fair, Petro’s Chili & Chips quickly became a global visitor favorite and remained a hometown hero long after the world went home.
The menu, which offers a wide array of options for guests, is most known for its “uniquely delicious” Petro, officials said.
“What we want people to know is that it’s not about the chili… it’s about the Petro!” Franchise owner Brandon Ladd said.
The Petro features a base of chili, Frito chips, and an array of toppings that are customizable to each customer’s liking. The restaurant offers a variety of other menu choices including giant baked potatoes, made-to-order wedge salads, nachos, 100 percent angus beef hot dogs and more. With its customizable options, the menu easily satisfies a variety of lifestyle diets including gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, Paleo, and ketogenic - to name a few.
“It’s been a long time coming and we cannot wait to open our doors… or, I supposed in this case, our drive-thru window,” said Mr. Ladd. “It will be love at first bite… guaranteed.”
