Charles Stephen (Steve) Hill died at his home in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the age of 53.

Stephen is survived by his parents, Charlie and Carolyn Hill, soulmate Carol Robbins, sisters Melanie (Reid) Scott and Jennifer Brown, nieces Caroline and Lauren Scott, Julia and Jenna Brown and nephew, Joshua Brown, and his and Carol’s dog, Dixie. He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Jack and Jessie Hill; maternal grandparents James and Aileen Jollay.

Stephen was born on October 11, 1968 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He graduated from Soddy-Daisy High School in 1986. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Transportation and Logistics from the University of Tennessee in 1991. His professional career was in Supply Chain Management with his latest position being Vice President of Logistics with PODS.

Stephen’s favorite past-time was his love for fishing – deep water, rivers, lakes, and streams. A day on the water was a little slice of Heaven on earth. He was an accomplished story-teller and was known to soon have everyone in his presence in laughter. His character attributes were intelligence, kindness, generosity, patience, and wisdom. To know him was to love him. He has many friends who will have many wonderful memories of some really good times together. He loved music and dabbled with playing the guitar. He was an avid fan of the Tennessee Volunteers – football, basketball, baseball. He loved food and could find the best restaurants in any town where he evaluated them on the food, the atmosphere, the service, even the silverware; Bern’s Steakhouse in Tampa was definitely one of his favorites.

Stephen was a member of Hyde Park Presbyterian Church where he developed a strong friendship with Pastor James Friesen. Since his cancer diagnosis in 2016, Stephen lived by the words of Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” and lived his life with the motto, Carpe Diem – “Seize the Day.”

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 554 McCallie Ave. Chattanooga, TN Saturday, May 7, 2022. Visitation will be from 1:30 – 3:00 pm in the Connector with the service to begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel.

For those who wish to make a memorial contribution, Stephen would recommend that donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, to his church, Hyde Park Presbyterian, 1309 West Swann Ave. Tampa, FL, or to the Flower Ministry at First Presbyterian Church, 554 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, TN 37402.
