Bryan College alumnus L.J. Rowden has been hired as the new director of Christian Formation in the Student Life Department.

Mr. Rowden graduated from Bryan in 2016 with a degree in communications before completing his Master’s degree in Biblical Studies through Bryan’s Adult and Graduate Program. Before coming to Bryan, Mr. Rowden served as the associate pastor for College Students and Young Adults at ChristWay Church in Ooltewah. He will start his new position on campus in mid-June.

Bryan has a special place in Mr. Rowden’s heart. While a student, he met his wife, Madison, and they look forward to returning to campus with their daughter Ivy and soon-to-be son Everett. Mr. Rowden played on Bryan’s baseball team and found overwhelming support from his teammates, coaches, professors, and friends when his father passed away during his sophomore year.

“I was faced with the toughest battle of my life,” Mr. Rowden reflected. “The people of Bryan College literally walked alongside me during this season. At Bryan, you are a person, not a number. I will forever be grateful for that.” Mr. Rowden looks forward to serving those on campus just as he was served while he was a student: “As a family, we love Bryan College and are ready for our time back on campus. We look forward to serving our campus, staff, and student body.”

The Rowdens are not the only ones excited about this hire. Nick Pacurari, who serves as the executive director of Student Life, said, “L.J. is an incredible leader passionate about seeing students awakened to life in Christ. Under his leadership, we will continue to think creatively and thoughtfully about engaging students with the Gospel and equipping them with a biblical worldview.”
