After more than a year as interim director, Chris Lykins was appointed as permanent director of Marketing and Communications for Chattanooga State Community College following a national search to fill the position.
“Chris brings unique qualifications to this mission-critical role as a former faculty member in our graphic design program and more than 10 years of professional experience,” stated Nancy Patterson, vice president of College Advancement and Public Relations.
"During his time as interim, Mr. Lykins made substantial improvements within the department," officials said. "He reworked the marketing budget, formalized partnership models, improved internal and external communication, established a campus brand audit, prioritized teamwork and collaboration and moved from push advertising to multimedia storytelling."
“My 10 years of experience in marketing has given me the skills to tell the ‘why’ of our faculty, staff and students in a way that will inspire others to see how ChattState can help them become the heroes of their own journey,” said Mr. Lykins.
“Chris brings a wonderful gift for storytelling, bold leadership skills and a passion for our purpose to support and empower everyone in our community to learn without limits,” said Ms. Patterson.
Mr. Lykins holds a master’s in Secondary Education and a bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, and a bachelor’s in English and pre-law from Pensacola Christian College.
