As the angels sang, the Lord welcomed Betty Jean Oakes, 89, of Falling Water Tennessee to her heavenly home on Monday, July 4, 2022. She would have been 90 on July 19.

Mrs. Betty Oakes is survived by two children son, Billy R. Oakes, daughter, Connie S Burroughs and the late Lloyd “Junior” Richards; grandchildren, Billy, Rachel, James, Mandi and Shannon, Marty and Heather; great-grandchildren, baby Shaheen, Whitley, Chase, Izak, Ethan, Lukas, Justin, Kaylen, Tristin, Layton, Traxton, Keelie, Aaliya and the twins. She had many nieces and nephews as she was a beloved aunt and sister. 

Betty was a widow of the late Billy R. Oakes.

She practiced her strong faith as an active member of Falling Water Community Church of God. Betty resided in the community of Falling Water, where she was loved. She had lived there for over 50 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an avid fan of sports and loved the outdoors. In her free time, she gardened and planted flowers. She will be greatly missed and is loved by all. 

Our family has the promise of Heaven to see her once again.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Home prior to the service in the chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 8, in the chapel of Hamilton Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chattanooga Community Church/ Falling Water Church of God; 6528 B Old Dayton Pike Hixson, Tn. 37343.
