The Lady Roadrunners nor the Georgia Southwestern State Lady Hurricanes could pull away as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw at Hurricane Field in Americus, Ga. on Tuesday night.
Lucia Bustamante scored in the 59' after an attempted Dalton State clear was intercepted and led to a lead pass from Emma Carter to Bustamante for the Cane's first and only goal of the night.
With less than six minutes to play in the 84', Guadalupe Martinez split two defenders to score the equalizer and tie the match at 1-1.
Dalton State (Ga.) goes to (2-2-2 overall) on the season with the draw, while Georgia Southwestern (Ga.) stands at (4-3-2 overall) with the tie.
Despite being out-shot 6-2, DS kept it to a close game after a busy night for goalie Brooke Alvarez, recording 5 saves. The hard-fought battle concluded after multiple clears by both squads as the clock hit triple zeros.
The Lady Birds will travel again in their next match when they head to Mount Vernon, Ga. to take on Brewton-Parker (Ga.) on Saturday, September 24. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
