Cory Asbury
The School of Journalism and Communication at Southern Adventist University invites the community to IGNITE Live with Christian recording artist Cory Asbury on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 8 p.m. in Iles P.E. Center on campus. This talk-show-style, ticketed event will feature the singer/songwriter’s testimony about how music and worship helped him to overcome inner battles, as well as performances by Asbury, games, practical tips for alleviating stress, and music from one of Southern’s own student bands.
Asbury’s album “Reckless Love” achieved viral success, landing on top of the Billboard Christian Albums chart and earning two Dove Awards and a 2019 Grammy nomination. The title track spent 18 weeks at No. 1, and Asbury was honored by Billboard, ASCAP, and BMI for Christian Song of the Year.
He released the song “Sparrows” during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting how Christians can approach anxiety using scriptural imagery from Matthew 6.
To date, Asbury has generated 952 million domestic U.S. streams, 130 million video views, 2.1 million monthly Spotify listeners, and 1.8 billion audience impressions.
