Lee University’s spring Convocation will begin on Sunday and end on Wednesday. This is a special time for the entire university to come together in worship, prayer, and spiritual reflection.

The theme for this semester’s Convocation is “Urgency,” which is based on the scriptures Hebrews 10:19-39.

"There is an urgency in the Kingdom and desperation in humanity that demands our attention and our perseverance,” said Rob Fultz, campus pastor and director of spiritual life at Lee. “Let us seal in our hearts and minds this truth and let us live by the power of the Holy Spirit with this urgency, ‘In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.’”

During Convocation, there will be a different speaker for each service, beginning with the university’s president Dr. Mark Walker and ending with Bishop Tony Stewart, senior pastor of citylife church in Tampa, Fl.

Before becoming president of Lee, Dr. Walker served as vice president of Ministerial Development, chair of Department of Christian Ministries, and a member of Lee's Board of Directors. Prior to Lee, Dr. Walker served as the senior pastor of Mount Paran North Church of God, and he has been a frequent speaker for Convocation throughout the years.

Casey Cole Higginbotham, a Lee alumna, will bring the Word for the Monday evening service. Higginbotham served as a lecturer in theology at Lee until the spring of 2022. She has founded and directed six teen-to-child mentoring programs. Ms. Higginbotham is a speaker and a writer, and she now lives in Athens, Ga., with her husband Wade.

Bishop William Lee, also a Lee alum, will speak at the Tuesday evening service. He is the pastor of Victorious Life Church in Conyers, Ga., and currently serves on the Church of God International Executive Council. He has also pastored churches in Rhode Island, Maryland, and the island of Bermuda and authored “All The Kings Men: Chronicles in the Life of King David.”

Bishop Stewart will conclude Convocation on Wednesday evening. In addition to pastoring the multi-generational citylife church, Stewart serves as the Second Assistant General Overseer of the Church of God. He has also served on the Church of God International World Missions Board.

Convocation will take place each night at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center. Livestream viewing will be available in the Dixon Center for the Monday and Tuesday evening services.

Lee encourages all students and guests to attend and participate in this semester’s Convocation. For those wishing to view online, services will be available via livestream at leeu.live and on Facebook.
