Lila Rogers Newsom, 86, of Soddy Daisy, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

She was born in Pittsboro, In., and lived in Soddy Daisy for 54 years. Lila was a longtime member of Brainerd Church of Christ and more recently at North Hamilton Church of Christ. She was a licensed psychological examiner and a professor of Psychology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Lila was a published author and a Ham Radio operator.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred O. Rogers and Willa Mae Rogers; brother, John Rogers and sister, Doris Holcomb.

Survivors are her loving husband of 63 years, Bobby Newsom; children, Mike (Trish) Newsom of Soddy-Daisy, Eric (Laura) Newsom of Smyrna, TN, Dana (Tim) Hakes of Soddy-Daisy, Dan (Stephanie) Newsom of Soddy-Daisy; grandchildren, Brittany Newsom, Chase (Erin) Newsom, Connor (Callie) Newsom, Cooper Newsom, Madelyn Newsom, Ashley (Jessie) Ellison, Megan (Mikey) Daniels, Matthew (Clarissa) Hakes, Katie (Dakota) Hooker, Drew Newsom; great grandchildren, Barrett Newsom, Hawk Newsom, Camden Morgan, Wolf Newsom, Keely Ellison, Rylan Ellison, Adalee Ellison, Abbie Daniels, Noah Daniels, Marcus Hakes, Peylee Hooker, Tripp Hooker.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 16, from 4-8 p.m and Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services will be on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Minister John Cupp officiating. Burial will follow at National Cemetery.
