Martha Ann “Mot” Armstrong Coulter
Martha Ann “Mot” Armstrong Coulter, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away on October 12, 2023.
Martha was born in Athens, Al., to the late Alton and June Odessa Meadows Armstrong, and was an only child to her parents. Her family moved to Auburndale, Fl., soon after her birth, so her father could work in the citrus fields during World War II.
She was a graduate of Winter Haven High School in Florida. She attended Peace College in Raleigh, NC, then returned home and graduated from Jones Business College in Orlando. While attending college she worked at Cypress Gardens. After moving to Chattanooga she worked for The Raoul Land Development Company.
She was actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James Barry Coulter and daughter, Ann Lucille Mahn.
She is survived by her daughter, Cathleen Coulter (Kent) Collyer; her grandchildren, Erin Colleen Mahn, Jake Davis (Allie) Collyer, Sean Barry Collyer, Nathan (Tanya) Collyer, Matthew Collyer, Megan Collyer (Brandon) McNabb; and 6 great grandchildren, Coulter Collyer, Keith Broom, Alyssa and Kaiden Collyer, Kirby McNabb, and Lincoln Collyer.
In keeping with Martha’s wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Martha’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or stjude.org
