Richard “Dick” Thede, 89, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023.
He was born and raised in Maywood, a suburb of Chicago. Dick’s father, Bill, was one of the original Harley Davidson dealers and this gave Dick his lifelong love of motorcycles. He also loved classic cars. Dick was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean era. After serving, Dick became the owner of Thede Marine in Illinois. In 1989, he moved to the Chattanooga area and in 1994, he revived Ventnor Boatworks, a custom boat builder. Dick was a wonderful husband, and a caring brother and uncle. He will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Minnie Thede, and brother, Arthur Thede.
Dick is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Thede; sister, Lynda Zambo (Richard); siblings-in-law, as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
The family will announce a service at a later date.
