Leroy’s, a new, small pub is opening at 304 Cherokee Blvd.

The owner, Daniel Brown, said it is only 1,000 square feet with the capacity of just 30 people. Only beer will be sold and no food except bagged chips.

He assured members of the Beer Board that all the ABC trained bartenders will check IDs for everyone they serve. Security will be by video surveillance.

Hours are from 3-10 p.m. on weekdays and noon-10 p.m. on weekends.

New beer permits were given to nine convenience stores in the Chattanooga area. Five locations of MAPCO Express have been approved for carry-out permits. The new beer licenses were needed because of an ownership change. These stores are at 3709 Cummings Highway, 200 Browns Ferry Rd., 5500 Highway 153, 1227 E. Main St. and 4711 Brainerd Road.

Three Circle K convenience stores have changed ownership and also were approved for new carry-out beer permits. The locations are 100 W. 20th St., 4600 Highway 58, and 2727 Rossville Blvd.

KAMBOI, a  new convenience store in a new building at 3701 Rossville Blvd., was also given a permit to sell carry-out beer.
