Frances Sheppard Strahley, 87, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, formerly of Birmingham, Alabama passed away peacefully on November 21, 2023.

Frances was born on March 15, 1936, to Francis W. and Bettie W. Sheppard of Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from the Brooke Hill School for Girls and went on to study at Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, Louisiana. After returning to Birmingham, she met and married her former spouse, Dr. Robert Strahley. They settled in Chattanooga to raise their family.

Frances was a volunteer and board member at The Orange Grove Center. She was a member of the Missionary Ridge Garden Club and the Junior League of Chattanooga. As a sports enthusiast, she was either playing tennis and racquetball or cheering on her beloved University of Alabama football team. As her girls got older, she began working for Office Coordinators. There, she enjoyed a long and successful office sales and design career.

Frances enjoyed traveling and seeing the world with family and friends. Seeing her grandchildren, reading, and playing bridge remained favorite pastimes in retirement.

Frances is survived by her daughters, Margaret Strahley (James) Anderson, Franklin, TN, Vicki Strahley King, Chattanooga, TN, and Carol Strahley (Garrison) Martin, Lookout Mountain, TN; her sister, Dr. Bettie Sheppard Banks, Atlanta, GA; niece, Mrs. Betsy Daley (John), Berkeley, CA and nephew, Mr. Frazer Banks, Atlanta, GA, and her cousin, Mr. Edward Seagram (Rosemary) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada as well as seven beloved grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warriors an organization Frances supported and felt strongly about. A private service will be held with the family.
