The Collegiate Conference of the South announced Women's Basketball weekly awards on Monday afternoon with Covenant's Lucy Benson earning Rookie of the Week.
Benson had a strong week as the Scots defeated Regent 81-62, and fell in a close game to future CCS foe Asbury, 52-44.
Against Regent, Benson scored a career-high 22 points and brought down a career-high 11 rebounds for the double-double. The freshman made five 3-pointers.
The next day, Benson posted 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Defensively across both games, she had five blocks.
For the week, Benson averaged 18 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 2 assists. This is her first CCS weekly award and the second for Covenant this season after Karis McIntosh was named Player of the Week on Nov. 13.
