Chattanooga, known for its abundance of exploration opportunities, is an outdoor lover's paradise. With spectator lined streets on race day, to some of the best volunteers around, Southern hospitality is around every turn in the Scenic City. The race kicks off with a 2.4-mile point-to-point swim in the Tennessee River. The 116-mile bike course is legendary, making this IRONMAN triathlon the longest course in the world. Athletes will ride 11 miles south of town before beginning two 47-mile loops in north Georgia. The 13.1-mile run is made up of two loops through downtown Chattanooga, The Tennessee Riverwalk, Veterans Bridge, North Shore, Walnut Street Bridge, and the beautiful Riverfront Parkway with a spectacular finish at Ross's Landing along the Tennessee River, said officials.
