Girl Named Tom at the Walker Theatre
A nearly packed Memorial Auditorium was waiting for the star singing duo Allison Krauss and Robert Plant to hit the stage.
First, opening act JD McPherson's rock group announced a 20-minute set, that went on to 35.
Setting up for the headliners dragged on as 9 o'clock approached.
Backdrop: A Krauss/Plant show was called off with only hours notice earlier in the week at Harrah's at Cherokee.
It happened again at Wilmington, N.C.
The cancellations were "due to unforeseen circumstances."
Then all of a sudden there they were on the stage of Chatanooga's Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Auditorium - bluegrass's purest sound and Led Zeppelin's once front man. The show went on.
Upstairs at the Walker Theatre the main attraction had been at it for an hour. A large group of Girl Named Tom fans cheered loudly the leggy singer and her brothers.
Together the Krauss/Plant/Tom loyalists enjoyed a rousing night at Chattanooga's current main playhouse.
It was another big offering from the Tivoli Foundation's Nick Wilkinson - with another Broadway play up soon.
