Ferrell North
Elder Ferrell North, 80, of Chattanooga, transitioned on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born in Carrolton, Georgia on April 18, 1943. At an early age his mother moved to Rome, Georgia where he attended Main High School. Elder North had a loving and caring spirit who enjoyed talking and praying for people. He also was a family man who loved his wife and children. For many years he worked for the city of Rome Georgia in Public Works until his retirement. He later went on to work for Chattanooga State Community College in the Maintenance Department. In 2003, he was called into the ministry where he was later appointed in 2006 as Assistant Pastor at The Church of God of Prophecy (Chickamauga-Loop). In 2012, he was led by the Holy Spirit to join Abundant Life Church of God in Christ under the leadership and ministry of Elder Lebron Hawkins where he served as an Elder and was known as a bold and fearless witness for the Lord.
Elder North was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Pearl North-Hinton; and brother, Tommy North.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife for over 32 years, Mosetta Denise North; one son, Darrell (Stephanie) North of Rome, GA; four daughters, Dana (Harlen) Stevenson, Ursula (Derrick) Whatley, Tonya (Tori) Jones, all of Rome, GA, and Tish Leemore of Chattanooga, TN; seven grandchildren, Tampa Strickland, Desmond (Latoya) Whatley, Tamar Ritchie, Jasmine Whatley, Darrell “D.J.” North Jr., Detrail North, and Senior Airman Tori Jones, Jr., all of Rome, GA; seven great-grandchildren; four in-laws, Pecola Lee, Victoria (Richard) Hight, Teresa (Charles) Young, and Levena (Thomas) Bass all of Chattanooga. Elder North will be missed by a host of relatives; friends; special cousins, Arthur and Gladys North, Willie James North, Charles North, Rosetta Jackson, and Betty Kidd.
Elder North will lie in state on Thursday, May 18, at 9 a.m. at Abundant Life Church of God In Christ with Elder Lebron Hawkins as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
