The Chattanooga Mocs soccer team travels to Charleston, S.C., for a Sunday matchup against The Citadel in Southern Conference action. The game kicks off at 2 p.m. on the Bulldog campus.
Chattanooga leads the series 15-6-1 dating back to 2001. UTC has won seven of the last eight meetings and are 5-3-1 in Charleston.
The Mocs went a program-best 6-2 in non-conference play that including a record six-game win streak. That followed with a SoCon opening 3-2 win over Mercer. The Mocs scored its final two goals with less than five minutes to play in the match. Chattanooga leads the SoCon with a 7-2, 1-0 SoCon record. The Mocs average 2.0 goals per game and have a .761 save percentage. Caroline Richvalsky leads the Mocs with six goals and is third in the league. Birna Johannsdottir has a SoCon-best six assists. Richvalsky has three game-winning goals and Johannsdottir has two. Richvalsky is second in the SoCon for scoring with 14 points, Johannsdottir has 12. Caroline Ekern has a 1.27 goals-against average, a .762 save percentage, two shutouts and averages four saves per game.
The Bulldogs lost just once in their first eight matches and opened league play with a 2-1 loss at UNC Greensboro last Thursday. The Citadel has outscored its opponents 14-10 and averaged 1.56 goals per game. Aiana Paez has a team-best 11 points with a team-best three goals and five assists with two game winners. Duncan has 10 points on three goals and four assists. Samantha Grantham and Didi Turay have two goals apiece. Nora Sampson has started all nine matches in goal and has allowed nine goals for a 1.06 goals-against average. She has a .813 save percentage on 39 saves.
