Mike Eaves
Mike Eaves, 70, of Ooltewah, went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, January 22, 2024.
Mr. Eaves loved the Lord and shared Jesus with everyone he knew. His love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and family were his greatest joy in life. His sudden call home has saddened the hearts of his family and many in the community.
A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Mr. Eaves graduated from Tyner High School 71’ and UTC and is a former educator at Ooltewah High School where he retired after 31 years of service. He taught World Geography, World History, and Psychology. He also owned a landscaping business Eaves Lawn Care (formally Horticultural Design) for 40+ years. After his retirement, he continued to substitute teach at Ooltewah High School and his landscaping business.
He was a member of Cross Culture Church where he attended for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benny Eaves and his mother, Evelyn Eaves.
His legacy in the community as a teacher will forever be with the facility and students he served over the years. His talent for making people laugh and connecting with students on a personal level will be greatly missed. In his landscaping business where his creativity and outgoing personality helped him develop many relationships and friendships in the community. His passion for creating beautiful landscapes will continue on through his sons who will maintain his business and carry on his legacy. We will always remember his quick whit and fascination with Titanic, the JFK assassination, and Seinfeld references. His presence will forever be felt by his family and acquaintances.
He is survived by his beloved and cherished wife of 38 years, Sebrenia Swope Eaves; his daughter Hadalie (Bob) Naughton; Hunter (Chelsea) Eaves; Jordan Eaves, all of Chattanooga. He was known affectionately as “Mica” by his grandchildren, Garnet Daniel nad Elisha Michael Naughton who he adored; two sisters, Deborah White of Ooltewah and Trisha (Mike) Dalton of Apison; three brothers, Jerry (Karen) Eaves of Ooltewah, David Eaves of Chattanooga, Jeff (Leatha) Eaves of Ooltewah and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 4 p.m. at Silverdale Baptist Church with his brother-in-law, Dr. Korbet Swope officiating. Private burial will be at Tyner Cemetery at a later date with Hunter Eaves, Jordan Eaves, Kaleb Swope, Noah Swope, Micah Swope, Eric White, and Ryan White serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 29, from 5-8 p.m. at Silverdale Baptist Church, 7236 Bonny Oaks Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
