Joe Theismann
The Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America will host its 20th Annual Friends of Scouting Luncheon on Feb. 28 starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. The annual luncheon serves as the Council’s largest, and most important, annual fundraiser.
The Cherokee Area Council welcomes Life Scout Joe Theismann, a 12-year NFL veteran and Emmy award- winning analyst as its keynote speaker. Joe was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and Pro Bowl MVP leading the Washington Redskins to a 27-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl 17. In 1983, he won the league’s Most Valuable Player Award, leading the Redskins to a second consecutive Super Bowl appearance and holds Redskin records for passing yardage, completions, and attempts. In addition to being a Life Scout, Mr. Theismann is known for his long-standing community service efforts as well as ESPN’s critically acclaimed Sunday Night and Monday Night NFL broadcasts.
“We are excited to welcome Joe and hear his captivating accounts of remarkable sport moments from a firsthand account, as well as how the values and skills taught by Scouting helped prepare him for those historic moments,” said Scout Executive/CEO Jared Pickens. “We hope this event will truly inspire the hundreds of Chattanooga area business and community leaders who will attend the Friends of Scouting Luncheon.”
