Of the millions of words written about the historic State of Tennessee v. John T. Scopes case the 2024 joint effort by authors Randy Moore and Tom Davis may chronologically connect the dichotomy on the topic of Evolution beginning with the Biblical account in Genesis and Darwin’s controversial Origin of the Species that paused briefly for the trial in Dayton, Tn., in July, 1925, but continues to this day in courtroom and communities.

The 271-page history lesson, complete with many of the era photographs of the 1925 proceedings that electrified the state, nation, and international settings is well worth the $25.00 purchase price that can secure a copy from the Rhea County Historical and Genealogical Society, PO Box 31, Dayton, Tn. 37321, 423 775-7818.

The unique quality of the publication is that beginning with the first entry cited from 1650 A.D. a reader can obtain a starting point on a history path that can open up numerous related topics on events and individuals that contain additional sources of interest up to the highly anticipated celebration of the 100th anniversary of Scope’s trial set for March-July, 2025.

Although the formats in the history of the prior trial and subsequent events after Scopes are in calendar form with a brief excerpt from events from named newspaper sources they reveal many important facts previously buried in one of the daily reports by any of the 200 reporters that covered the trial from July 10 through July 21, 1925.

It is a valuable addition to the recognized treatises by distinguished authors Edward Larson, Douglas Linder and many others.

Randy Moore and Tom Davis have also collaborated on two earlier accounts of the “True Trial of the Century!”

“Causes Go On Forever” is a valuable practical supplement!
