Shirley Anne Evans Ewton Rawlston, 89, passed away peacefully at home on October 6, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1935, in Chattanooga, to the late Joseph Herbert Evans and Clara Hunley Evans as the youngest of four children and a graduate of Red Bank High School class of 1953. She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, John W. Rawlston Sr.

Shirley’s first love was the Lord. She was a member of Rechoboth Baptist Church, Soddy Daisy. Previously, she was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Soddy Daisy where she served as church treasurer for 13 years. She retired in 1999 as an insurance agent from Trimble Insurance Agency.

Shirley was known for her love of life and family but especially her grandchildren. You would always find her cheering in the stands as the second loudest fan at their sporting events (1st being John).

For over 69 years, she loved living on the water. Her hobbies included fishing, water skiing, boating, traveling with the antique car club, and all things NASCAR. Her door was always open with home cooked meals. She had more energy than most people half her age.

She is preceded in death by her siblings Joseph Herbert Evans Jr (Bud), Betty Evans Abston, and Martha Evans Campbell. She is survived by her two daughters Lea Anne Ewton Perez (Ed) and Leslie Ewton Forstmann (Kevin). Grand children include Caleb Perez, Joshua Perez, Makayla Perez, and Tayler Forstmann. Step-sons include John Rawlston Jr (Cathy) and Mark Rawlston (Gloria) with grandchildren Keith Rawlston (Anna) and Sallie Rawlston. Great grandsons include Mays, Cade, and Finn Rawlston. She also leaves behind many nephews and nieces.
