The Lee University men's soccer team had two members named to the All-Gulf South Conference teams on Thursday afternoon. Marc Ehmann, a graduate student from Manheim, Germany, was on the First Team All-GSC. Junior Marcos Gracia from Leon, Spain was on the Second Team All-GSC. For Ehmann this is the second time he has earned this honor as he was a second team member in 2023. For Garcia, it is his first time receiving the accolade.
Marc Ehmann has been the captain and the leader of the defense for the Flames this year.
He was on the preseason All-GSC team after being a second team All-GSC member last season. He has helped lead the defense to giving up just a goal a game and has only allowed the third fewest goals in the GSC. He has a score and an assist this year.
Marcos Garcia has been very strong in the midfield this season. He leads the team in assists with three and has two goals. He is second on the team in shots with 29 and leads Lee with shots on goal with 14. He is averaging over 82 minutes played a game.
Head Coach Derek Potteiger is excited for Ehmann and Garcia. "I’m happy for both of those guys as they both are top quality players, but what everyone doesn’t get to see is that they are top quality young men and teammates as well. Any individual recognition in soccer is always a reflection on the team and so those two guys certainly deserve it but I think the whole team will appreciate the acknowledgment as well. Bigger than any of this though is our game on Saturday at West Florida. Our focus is solely on that game and specific match-up and we need everyone, including Marc and Marcos, to play well on Saturday."
The Flames will take on the University of West Florida on Saturday, November 9 at 8 PM in Pensacola, Fla..
