Cynthia “Cindy” Swingle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend with an unmatched zest for life. She passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024, at the age of 71.

She was born to Charles “Pat” Stephens and Betty “Mousey” Janow on January 30, 1953. After graduating from Red Bank High School in 1971, she went to Erlanger Nursing School, where she became a registered nurse. She married the love of her life and best friend, Everett Thach Swingle Jr. in 1974. Together, they had two children, Patrick (Mystie) and Jennifer who were her world, until, of course, Thach, her grandson, was born.

Cindy loved spending time with family and traveling the world, and always boasted that she’d been to all 50 states and went to Disney World with her dad the year it opened. Anyone who knew her had listened to a “Cindy Tale” a time or two. Some had been lucky enough to go on a “Cindy trip” or sit through a lengthy slide show of pictures from one. Everyone knew that she could be anywhere in town in just “five minutes,” and she signed off every phone call with a “see ya, bye.” She returned every “I love you” with “love you, more.” We are all better to have known her and even luckier to have been loved by her.

Cindy is survived by her mother Betty “Mousey” Janow, husband Everett, children Patrick (Mystie) and Jennifer, grandson Thach, sister Kelly Ferguson (David), stepsister Jennifer Janow, and several other close family members and friends she considered family. She is preceded in death by her father Charles “Pat” Stephens and stepfather Henry “Butch” Janow.

Visitation is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415.

A graveside service will be held at Chattanooga Memorial Park, 501 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415 directly after.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Liver Foundation (liverfoundation.org) or a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, www.lanefh.com, 423 877-3524.
