Samuel Henderson Bell, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Parkridge Medical Center.

Sammy was born March 23, 1932, in Chattanooga to the late Clyde and Nellie Bell. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga. Sammy served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a quiet man with a sharp mind. He loved guitars, computer, and technology. It was not uncommon to find him at his kitchen table reading books about complicated subjects like astrophysics. He loved being surrounded by his family and affectionately referred to his great-granddaughters as his “little dumplings.”

Sammy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Doris “Roselle” Bell; two sons, Samuel Bell Jr. and Ronald Bell; a sister, Bertha Wallace and a Brother Clyde Bell Jr.

He is survived by his son, Alan (April) Bell; six grandchildren, Ellen, Lindsey, and Alex Bell, Madeline (Mackie) Puckett, Jenna Boykin, and James Gouge; four great-granddaughters, Malia and Monroe Puckett and Blakely and Evelynn Boykin; a brother-in-law Bruce Wallace; and numerous nephews.

Visitation will be held on Feb. 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Olive Branch Event Center in Cleveland.

Funeral services will be held immediately after, with Pastor Nate Dubs officiating.

Cremation and interment at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga will follow at a later date.
