Eddie Eubanks, Jr.
Eddie Eubanks, Jr., 78, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at his residence.
He was a graduate of Howard High School, Class of 1962. Immediately after graduating from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He was a member, deacon, and pastor’s aide at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church for over 25 years under the leadership of Pastor Thomas L. Jones, present pastor Kelvert Scruggs. Eddie was a skilled musician who played bass guitar and piano. In his younger years, he was a co-founder and member of the group, Eddie Eubanks & Astro Funk which recorded several songs. In his adult life, he was on the mayoral ballot for the City of Chattanooga for numerous years. Eddie also enjoyed painting and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Eubanks, Sr.; and Laura Eubanks. Survivors include his son, Stacey (Tamara) Eubanks of Chattanooga; mother, Mary Eubanks; brother, Vincent Eubanks, both of Chattanooga; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
Eddie will lie in state on Tuesday, March 19, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Elder James Leslie as the eulogist.
