The Lee University Women’s Track & Field team opened its outdoor season this weekend in the Lee University Invitational at the Ray Conn Sports Complex. The Lady Flames claimed four NCAA Division II Provisional marks during the two-day meet.
Aria Hawkins, McKenna Cavanaugh and Lily Hare all finished in the top three of the 5000-meter Run. Hawkins was first at 16:47.28, while Cavanaugh was right behind in second place (16:47.54). Hare crossed the finish line at 16:57.65 for third. The three runners each beat the provisional time of 17:03.78.
Liezl Theron cleared 1.70 meters to finish first in the Heptathlon High Jump and meet the provisional height of 1.70 meters in the High Jump.
Theron placed first in four of the seven events to place second in the Heptathlon with 3,607 points. Sydney White finished fourth with 3,724 points. Lily Brown placed 10th with 3,165 points.
Six other Lady Flames also competed in the 5000. Danielle Horter (17:23.21) was fifth, Megan Adams finished eighth (17:33.52) and Paige Patterson was ninth (17:34.62). Zoe Brickley (17:55.49) crossed the finish line in 14th. Ashlyn Iliff stopped the clock at 18:05.49 for 19th and Phoebe Moran was 23rd (18:14.24).
Carissa Hall posted a time of 25.67 seconds to finish fifth in the 200-meter Dash. Jakara Tobler was 30th (27.20) and Delphine Dah placed 32nd (27.27). Dah was 10th (1:00.74) in the 400-meter Dash and Tobler was 15th (1:01.90).
Three Lady Flames finished in the top 12 of the 1500-meter Run. Letlhogonolo Magoro crossed the finish line in fourth (4:42.51). Brickley was seventh (4:46.49) and Katie Beam finished 12th (4:54.87).
Katie Krueger was the top finisher of the 10,000-meter Run with a time of 37:48.69. Julia Halterman completed the distance in 39:03.30 for fourth place.
Hannah Wright was third in the 100-meter Hurdles with a time of 14.43 seconds and placed second with a mark of 1:05.33 in the 400-meter Hurdles.
Devon Jackett claimed a sixth-place finish in the High Jump with a height of 1.58 meters. Brynn Depinet and Nicole Counter were Lee’s representatives in the Pole Vault. Depinet cleared 3.74 meters for second place and Counter was fifth with a vault of 3.14 meters.
Carissa Hall secured first place with a mark of 5.41 meters in the Long Jump. She added a second place finish in the Triple Jump with a measurement of 10.97 meters.
Olivia Davidson threw the javelin 35.27 meters for second place. Samara Brinks finished 10th with a mark of 25.92 meters. Brinks was 14th in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 39.55 meters. Davidson’s throw of 30.20 meters put her in 31st.
The Lady Flames are scheduled to travel to Raleigh, N.C., next weekend for the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.
