DeeAnn Oaks McDaniel, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, surrounded by her family.

DeeAnn was born in Chattanooga, on May 1, 1943, the daughter of the late Dee J. Oaks and JoElla Pack Oaks. In addition to her parents, DeeAnn was preceded in death by her brother, David Oaks, who she cared for for most of his life. DeeAnn and her husband Bobby recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on March 30, 2024 – together since she was just 18 years old. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting others first. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, but of all the roles she filled, her favorite was “Mimi” to seven grandchildren. She was a loving friend and spent many hours caring for those in need. She will be remembered for her gifts of hospitality, homemaking, and compassion for others, but most of all, for her love of cooking delicious food for her family. She loved the Lord and was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby Ray McDaniel; three daughters, Temple Brookshire (Mike), Tracey McLoughlin, and April Thornton (Mike); seven grandchildren, Chase Brookshire (Lauren), Chloe Coley (Austin), Tatum McLoughlin, Miles McLoughlin, Zach Thornton, Chase Thornton, and Whitaker Thornton; and five great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cheryl Baueghems and Hospice of Chattanooga for the excellent care they provided over the past year.

Graveside and interment services will be held on Monday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Dr. David King officiating.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, East Brainerd Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tn. 38105.
