Patricia "Pat" Turbeville, 96, formerly of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away on April 15, 2024, with her daughters at her side and surrounded by the love of her Chattanooga family.

Pat was preceeded in death by her husband James, her loving mother and father, Mary and Charles Burleson, and her devoted brother Charles and wife Judy of St. Louis.

She is survived by daughters, Rae Lynne and Terri, granddaughters, Alyssa (Alex) Goss and Kelsey Womble, and great-grandchildren, Mason and Ava Goss, all of Chattanooga and special niece, Jill Burleson of Pacific, Mo., and numerous family in Mississippi.

Pat was born and grew up in depression era Maquoketa, Iowa and James was from rural Mississippi. They met after WWII in St. Louis when Pat's brother, Charles introduced them while he and James were both in the coast guard. Pat and James married in 1947 and decided to move to Paducah while traveling through the area. Pat's mother later joined them in Paducah. They raised their family in Paducah in the Hendron community. James was a barber but always wanted to farm. Pat reluctantly agreed to join in the operation and to her surprise she enjoyed it. But what she really liked was meeting and talking to people. Pat always loved her neighborhood and the many friends she had there. Pat and James were regular members of Lebanon United Methodist Church in their Hendron community.

After James death in 2002, Pat's friends and neighbors continued to always be there for her until she moved to Chattanooga to be with her children. In Chattanooga, Pat lived with her two daughters. Pat enjoyed that part of her life-reading her books, working her crosswords, having her morning super strong black coffee, and shopping for her primitive antiques. Pat made many new friends in Chattanooga and continued to correspond with her longtime friends and family. Pat's zest for life and family earned her the nickname 'queen' by her great-grandchildren and she was truly that in life.

Pat will be remembered in a private celebration of life in Chattanooga and will be buried in Paducah next to her husband and mother in a private service at a later date.

Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 423 622-9995.
