18 Lee University Student Athletes Were Named To Gulf South Spring All-Academic Teams

A league best 18 Lee University Student Athletes were named to the Gulf South Conference Spring All-Academic teams the league office announced on Thursday. 93 student-athletes were named to the Spring Academic Honor Roll over nine sports. Lee had four representatives on the women's outdoor track and field team. There were three representatives on men's outdoor track and field, baseball, and women's lacrosse teams.. Women's golf had two representatives, while men's golf, men's tennis, and women's tennis each had one.
Lee also had 141 students on the honor roll which was the second most in the GSC.

For the women's golf team, Supuschaya "Yui" Srichantamit graduated with a 3.91 in international business. She is a WGCA First Team All-American and the GSC Golfer of the Year. She won the GSC individual title this season. She has been on the GSC All-Academic team the last three seasons and has been on the honor roll every year since 2020.

Banthita "Pearl" Phoncharatkun has a 3.56 GPA in business management. She was on the First Team All-GSC this year. She came in fourth at the GSC championship. At the NCAA regional she was 18th. and at the NCAA Championships she was tied for 12th in stroke play.

On the men's golf team, Bennett McNabb has a 3.8 GPA in business management. He was on the honor roll last season. He was 23rd in the GSC championship. At the regional he was 29th and at the NCAA championship he was 65th

For the women's track and field team, Aria Hawkins has a 3.47 GPA in psychology. She was also a cross country All-Academic team member. She came in 10th at the NCAA Championships in the 1500 meter. She won the 1500 meter in the GSC championships and was third in the 800 meter.

Liezl Theron graduated with a 3.66 GPA in biological sciences. She was also on the indoor track and field All-Academic team. She was the most outstanding overall performer at the GSC Outdoor Championships. She won the heptathlon, and the high jump was fifth in the long jump.

Hannah Wright graduated with a 3.38 GPA in public relations. She has been on the honor roll the last several seasons. She was the most outstanding track performer at the GSC Outdoor Championships this year. She won the 10-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. She was part of the 4x400 meter relay team that came in second and on the 4x100 meter relay that was fourth.

McKenna Cavanaugh graduated with a 4.0 while earning her Master of Education. She was 6th in the 3000 meter steeplechase at the NCAA Championships. She set the GSC championship record in the 3000 meter steeple chase. She was also second in the 1500 meter run at the GSC Championships.

On the men's track and field team, Roberto Farjardo graduated with a 3.56 GPA while earning his MBA. He has been on the honor roll for the last two years. He took 2nd place at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 1500 meter. He won the 1500 meter in the GSC Outdoor Championship.

Eli Brooks graduated with a 3.76 GPA in mathematics. He was on the indoor All-Academic team and on the outdoor All-Academic team last year. He won the decathlon and the pole vault at the GSC Outdoor Championship this season..

Ashleigh Simes, of the women's tennis team, has a 3.5 GPA in business administration. She has been on the honor roll the last two seasons. She was a First Team All-GSC member this season. She went 12-2 this season as the #1 player for Lee.

For the men's tennis team, Francico Faria graduated with a 3.91 GPA in business administration. He was on the honor roll this year and last year. He was a first team All-GSC member this season as well as last year. He went 12-2 this season as #1 singles.

On the women's lacrosse team, Brittney White has a 4.0 GPA while getting a Master of Athletic Training. She is now a four-time member of the All-Academic team as she was awarded the honor in 2023, 2022, and 2021 as well. She was on the First Team All-GSC again this year and has been on it four of the five years she has played. She is the NCAA DII active leader in draw controls. 

Kelsey McGowen has maintained a 4.0 while earning a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. She was on the All-Academic team last season and has now been on the honor roll for five seasons. She has been a Second Team All-GSC the last two seasons.

Kaleigh Bernard graduated with a 3.95 GPA in education. She was on the All-Academic team last year. In goal for the Lady Flames, she had 9 wins and 115 saves this year. 

On the baseball team, Jack Nedrow has a 3.47 GPA in sports management. He has been on the honor roll all three years at Lee. He was the GSC pitcher of the year this season. He was a NCBWA First Team All-American, a D2 CCA Third Team All-American, ABCA Third Team All-American, and an all-region player in all three as well.

Dylan Standifer graduated with a 4.0 while earning a Master of Education in Educational Leadership. He has been on the honor roll four times. He is the all-time leader at Lee in RBI. He was on the Second Team All-GSC, and second team NCBWA All-Region Team member as well.

Tim Gooden has a 3.93 GPA in exercise science. He has been on the honor roll all three seasons at Lee. He was a First Team All-GSC this year as a relief pitcher. He was also on the NCBWA and D2 CCA All Region teams. 

All-Academic teams are voted on by the conference's Athletic Communications Directors. Athletes must have a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher, have spent at least one year on campus at the institution. The teams are comprised of athletes that achieved combination of both academic and athletic success this season.
Athletes must maintain a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher to receive honor roll recognition.
