Carolyn Anderson Bryden
Carolyn Anderson Bryden, 81, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on July 14, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Carolyn was born on Jan. 21, 1943, in Chattanooga, the daughter of Emmitt Hugh Anderson and Catherine McCall Anderson.
She grew up in the Hixson area of Chattanooga, a graduate from Hixson High School in 1960, and attended business school in Chattanooga. Carolyn drove a school bus and worked for DuPont, Sears Roebuck, and J.C. Penney for many years before retiring in 2005. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Carolyn loved spending time with her animals, boating, traveling, especially cruises, and going to the beach. Most of all, she loved being with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Emmitt Hugh Anderson and Catherine McCall Anderson, and her two brothers, Emmitt Lamar Anderson and James Randall Anderson.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jack C. Bryden; son, Jeffrey C. Bryden; daughter, Jennifer C. Massey (Jason); grandchildren, Payton C. Massey (Seaton), Allison Massey Scott (Trevor), Ellie R Bryden, and Fisher C. Bryden; other cherished family members.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, at St. Jude Catholic Church, with Father Charlie Burton, officiating. Entombment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday July 17, and 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Hospice of Chattanooga, or Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga.
