Chattanooga Christian School welcomes new Head Basketball Coach Tommy Fox. Coach Fox is a local fixture in the Chattanooga basketball scene and brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Charger family. Tommy graduated from Notre Dame High School as Chattanooga’s all-time leading scorer totaling 2,888 career points. He went on to excel at the college level and was named to Mountain State University’s all-decade team after starring as an all-conference player.

Coach Fox quickly went from player to coach at Mountain State where he helped the Cougars lead the nation in scoring for two consecutive seasons. Coach Fox then returned to Notre Dame as the head basketball coach in 2008. Under his leadership, the Fighting Irish earned their first-ever district title in 2010. By 2018, Coach Fox was named the Southern Tennessee Coach of the Year by the Columbia Daily-Herald.

He joins CCS after a successful run as both the head basketball coach and athletic director at Wayne Christian School in Goldsboro, NC. The boys’ basketball team made it to the Sweet 16 Tournament three of the past four years. Coach Fox also served as the head softball coach, and his team won back-to-back state championships in 2022 and 2023 and were also runners-up in 2021 and 2024.

Beyond Coach Fox’s success on the court and field, he embodies the CCS philosophy of winning the hearts and minds of student-athletes in the pursuit of competitive excellence. His number one goal is to glorify God through the game of basketball and serve student-athletes and the CCS community.

“We are incredibly blessed to have Coach Fox join our community,” said new CCS Athletic Director Eric Preszler. “He has strong local connections, a wealth of basketball and leadership experience, and understands what it takes to build a Christ-centered program that is successful both on and off the court.”

Coach Fox will be moving to the Chattanooga area soon and will be on campus at the beginning of August. Tommy and his wife, Tara, have seven children, Anna (Univ. of Tenn. and Michigan State softball), Caroline (UNC softball), Ella (UNC softball), Jack (CCS 11th grade), Millie (CCS 9th grade), Ben (CCS 8th grade), and Shelby (CCS 7th grade).
