New restaurants that have recently opened in the Chattanooga area include Acme Fusion Café, 9469 Bradmore Lane, Unit 105 at Cambridge Square in Ooltewah. The full-service restaurant fuses food from different cultures, using their varied flavors, spices and cooking techniques. It is a quick menu with a variety of ethnic salads, tacos and burgers. The restaurant’s hours are from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and it offers dine in, delivery or take-out. The business was approved for a consumer beer license, which will allow beer to be sold on site to accompany the food.

Steve Flynn and Gregory Bankston, the owners of Stevarinos Italian Pub on Cherokee Boulevard, have opened a new restaurant in Lookout Valley. Blackstone Grill is described as an upscale tavern serving American food. The restaurant located at 3018 Cummings Highway has been approved for a consumer beer license.

Grown Folks, 830 Dodson Ave., Unit D, is being opened by Shaneika Shepherd. The business is described as a lounge, not a club. She told the beer board that it is a place where people socialize, watch TV and drink. She said that IDs will be screened for age at a counter from which the beer will be sold. She said that security guards are present and they keep up with the number of customers allowed inside to comply with the capacity that is allowed by the fire marshal. The building that the business is in has multiple suites with doors that adjoin, however they are securely boarded so there is no passage between rooms, which had been a problem with a previous business located at the address. The beer board approved both a consumer license for on-premise beer sales and a brown-bag license.

Let’s Paint-by-Zilly-Art opened at 624 E. Main Street at the end of June. The Chattanooga Beer Board has now approved a consumer beer license for the business so beer can be sold at various events. Shanerra Davis, owner, said her business offers painting classes on a variety of mediums and crafting classes, a kid’s camp, Karaoke, and space can be rented out for special events.

Food City already has a take-out beer license for the new 1375 Broad St. location. On Thursday, a new caterer beer license was approved so beer can be sold at events that are catered by the grocery store.

Two new hotels have been given a permit to sell beer, LaQuinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham, in downtown Chattanooga at 1225 Cowart St. will be able to serve beer in the lobby bar from 5-11 p.m. Towne Place Suites by Marriott at 5248 Highway 58, Suite 153 in Hixson, has also been approved for a beer license.
