Head of School Becky Hansard has announced Mike Connor as Director of Athletics. "Coach Connor is a Christ-centered, discipleship focused individual who has demonstrated deep integrity, high standards, and a strong commitment to our Academy’s mission on a daily basis as a coach, a teacher and a mentor," Hansard noted.

Coach Connor's hiring comes after a thorough search conducted by an appointed committee who reviewed more than 100 applications and interviewed several internal and external candidates.

Most recently, Connor has served as SBA’s football coach, a role he will continue this season.

“Coach Connor has extensive experience overseeing a variety of athletic programs and his proven ability as a leader make him an excellent fit for our Athletic Director position. His core values align perfectly with the mission of Silverdale athletics being a tool for character integrity, leadership excellence, and student discipleship.” former SBA Athletic Director and current SBA High School Principal, Taylor Hasty, stated.

As Director of Athletics, Connor will oversee the advancement of professional development for our coaches. He will also work closely with the administration to ensure that all students feel supported in our co-curricular program.

Coach Connor holds a Master of Science in Athletic Administration from Ohio University and has a passion for developing relationships. One of his goals in athletics is to move athletes from their point of need to their point of potential through relationships with parents, administration, staff, and most of all, with other student-athletes. Speaking on his role as a coach and mentor, “My desire is to establish and equip the student to engage their world as an obedient follower of Christ.”

Coach Connor has been married to his wife Paula for twenty-six years and together they have 4 children, Nathan (23), Clay (21), Timothy (18), and Anna Claire (14). Their family attends Grace and Peace Church in Ooltewah.
