Richard Thomas Donley
Richard Thomas Donley, 77, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024.
He was born in Auburn, NY on Feb. 1, 1947. Richard graduated from East High School in 1965 and moved to Chattanooga to attend UTC where he graduated with a BS in Secondary Education in 1972. He retired from Chattanooga Creative Arts High School in 2019. Richard also taught at Orchard Knob Middle School, Howard High School, and Saint Stephens School. He was loved and admired by his students. He also worked at Wheland Foundry. Richard was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chattanooga. He was a fan of UTC Moccasins football and basketball, as well as the Syracuse Orangeman and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter, Sophia Marie Lane.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Pearl Donley; and twin sister, Jane Randall.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Phyllis Green Donley; daughter, Tracy (Chris) Lane; granddaughter, Sophia Marie Lane; sister, Suzanne (Tom) LeRoy; two brothers, Tom (Patti) Donley, and David (Carol) Donley; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 28, from 4–8 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home South Crest Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
Entombment will follow at Tennessee – Georgia Memorial Park and Mausoleum Rossville, Ga.
