UTC Women's Soccer Hosts Tennessee Tech Thursday

 The Chattanooga women’s soccer team is home once again this Thursday. The Mocs will host instate foe Tennessee State at Finley Stadium. The match is set to kick off at 6:00 p.m.

The Mocs and Golden Eagles first met in 1997. UTC won the match and leads the series 14-6-2.
In the last four meetings, the Mocs are unbeaten and put together a four-game win streak from 2008-11. Whether home or away, UTC’s record is identical against Tennessee Tech at 7-3-1.

Chattanooga came away with a 1-0 victory on the road last season against Tennessee Tech. Birna Johannsdottir lined up for a corner kick. Her shot went over the keeper’s effort and hit the far post, bouncing in for the lone goal of the match. UTC outshot TTU 14-11 with 11 shots in the second half alone. Caroline Ekern recorded three saves while Johannsdottir and Zoey Mize led the way with four shots each. Two of Caroline Richvalsky’s three shots were on goal.

The Mocs came away with a 1-0 victory on the road at Jacksonville State for its first win of the season. Caroline Richvalsky leads the team with two goals and one game winner. Clarissa Salinas and Brenna Swiger have one goal each and Zoey Mize has a pair of assists. Caroline Ekern tallied her first shutout of the season against the Gamecocks. She has a 1.83 goals against average, 11 saves and a .676 save percentage.

The Golden Eagles opened the season with a 3-1 loss to the SoCon’s Samford. TTU recorded a 2-2 tie against Miami (Ohio) and went 4-4 against Columbia. Other losses came against Mississippi State (1-0), MTSU (3-2) and a 4-0 loss to Saint Mary’s (Calif.). TTU has nine goals on the year led by Neve Renwick with four. She has one assist for a team-high nine points. Anna Baker is second on the team with two goals and four points. Maggie Conrad has played all six games in goal and has 42 saves. She has allowed 17 goals and has a 2.83 goals against average.

The Mocs hit the road to close out the non-conference slate at Belmont on September 15. The game kicks off at 6 p.m. in Nashville.
