Poe's Tavern - It never fails, you pass by the cabin and someone is peeking into a window to get a glimpse of inside.
Poe's Tavern - It never fails, you pass by the cabin and someone is peeking into a window to get a glimpse of inside.
This Saturday, and every Saturday in September, someone from the Soddy, Daisy & Montlake Historical Association, will be in Poe’s Tavern with the doors open.  The hours will be from 8 a.m.-noon or later, depending on if the market is still open.

The cabin is in the Poe’s Tavern Historical Park adjacent to the Soddy-Daisy City Hall.  The address is 9835 Dayton Pike.

Officials said, "The Farmer’s Market, among the covered pavilions on both sides of the cabin, is a prime time for us to open the building.
We will be open and any visitors can come in and go upstairs to see how the cabin is furnished. Come on by.  We will save you a rocking chair."

While you are in the area, the Historical Association also operates a museum called the “Good Old Days Museum” in Soddy.  The museum is in a 103-year-old bank building. It is open every Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.  The address of the museum is 11298 Wall Street, at the corner of Wall and Depot Streets.

"We do not have rocking chairs at the museum but I bet we could find you something to sit on if you want to stay awhile," officials said.
