The Collegiate Conference of the South released its Weekly Award winners for Men's Basketball on Monday afternoon with Pierce Smith earning Player of the Week honors.
This comes after an impressive double-double of 18 points (8-of-13 shooting) and 10 rebounds in a home win vs. LaGrange. The sophomore also had five blocks, three assists, and two steals on the night.
The award is the first of Smith's career and is the fifth CCS honor a Covenant player has gotten this season with Luuk Dusek winning Rookie of the Week three times and Korbin Long winning the same award once.
Covenant women's basketball player Brooklyn Konrad was also named named Rookie of the Week.
This comes after Konrad scored a career-high 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting in just her third game with the Scots after joining the team at the start of the new year. She also posted three rebounds to go along with her offensive production.
The award marks the third Rookie of the Week honor a Covenant player has gotten this season as Ora Hall has won it twice.
Both teams return to the court on Tuesday evening with the women playing at 5 p.m. inside Barnes P.E. Center against Huntingdon and the men at 7 p.m.
