David Lance Burgiss, 58, of Soddy Daisy, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

David had a kind and generous heart, and he was truly a kid at heart himself. One of his greatest joys was playing Santa at Christmastime, bringing smiles to the faces of children.

A talented carpenter by trade, David took great pride in his work. He deeply loved his family, cherishing every moment with them, especially his grandfather, “Buster”. He was incredibly proud of his grandchildren, Kage and Kiara, who brought him so much happiness. David had a lifelong love for animals, the outdoors, and the peace of fishing and camping.

David was preceded in death by his beloved son, Casey Burgiss; his maternal grandparents, Robert “Buster” Jackson and Vera Jackson; and his paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Childs.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Caraway; his parents, Ernie and Phyllis Burgiss; his brother, Weston Burgiss; his cherished grandchildren, Kage and Kiara Burgiss; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and dear friends.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. CST on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Gilliam Cemetery in Marion County, with Rev. David Evans officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Jan. 31, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

David will be remembered for his big heart, his love for his family, and the joy he brought to others. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
