For the second straight week, Liz Lannom and Gracie Waite from the Lee University women's track and field team each earned a weekly award from the Gulf South Conference. Lannom was freshman of the week for the third time, and Waite earned field athlete of the week for the second straight week.
Lannom set new best in both the 60-meter hurdles and in the 200-meter race. She set a new program record in the 200m and the second fastest time in school history in the 60H. She made finals and finished 4th overall in the 60H at the UAB Green and Gold Invite. She was sixth in the 200m.
Gracie Waite set a new school record in the shotput with a throw of 13.78 meters. That throw ranks Waite 23rd in the nation.
After a strong showing at the Ashland Jud Logan Light Giver Invitational, Lee University senior field athlete Cameron Stine was named Gulf South Conference field athlete of the week.
He set a new personal record points score of 4986 in the Heptathlon. That score was the second best in program history only behind the NCAA D2 record set by Cale Kassen. He also set personal records in both the Shot Put and the Pole Vault during the competition. Stine is now ranked 23rd nationally in the heptathlon.
