Minister Mae Delois Nelson, 76, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, in a local hospital.

She was educated in the Chattanooga Public Schools and was a 1967 graduate of Howard High School. She received a B.S. degree in Financing from McKenzie College and a B.S. degree in Human Resources from Chattanooga State Community College. She was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as a Sgt. Major after 34 years of service to her country. Minister Nelson was a member of Greater Faith Temple Baptist Church where she served as one of the ministers and retired after many years of service there. She was also a member of several National Baptist Associations. Minister Nelson was employed by TVA where she worked in the Finance Department and retired after many years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Wesley Nelson, Sr. and Lether Foster Nelson; brothers, Lee Wesley Nelson, Jr. and Thomas Haven Nelson, Sr.

Survivors include her son, Vincent (Crystal) Nelson; daughter, Leshina (Dwayne) Spearman; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Eric Jerome Nelson; sisters, Linda (Doyle) Hunter, Delola (Emmett) Osburn, and Darilyn Reel, all of Chattanooga; a host of nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins; other relatives; oldest, dearest friends, Sis. Owens, The Purdues, and others.

Minister Nelson will lie in state on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, from 12:30-5 p.m. Funeral service will be on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Michael Lacy as the Eulogist. Burial will be on Monday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
