Gloria Fredrick, daughter of the late Anthony Poole and Annie Laura Poole, was born June 29, 1938, in Wadley, Alabama.

She attended Randolph County Training School in Roanoke, Al., where she graduated in 1957. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and remained faithful to His Word until her death. She was a faithful member of Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church until declining health prevented her from attending in person.

She was united in holy matrimony to James Fredrick on February 2, 1958. This union was blessed with six children. Mr. Fredrick preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2014.

Because of her generous and kind spirit and her pleasing personality, she was loved by many. She had a passion for taking care of people and would give her last to make others happy. She was a great cook; not only could she prepare delicious all-American food, but she was also a terrific baker. Everyone loved her homemade biscuits. Mrs. Fredrick’s faith-fueled resilience and her dedication to family, especially her grands, were quite evident. Gloria’s inviting demeanor, compassionate manner, and welcoming spirit touched the lives of many who knew her. She quietly departed this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fredrick; daughter, Lawanna Fredrick McLin; son, James Russell Fredrick; mother, Annie Laura Poole; and father, Anthony Poole.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Cassandra Fredrick of Ellenwood, Ga., Alfredia Hubbard of Chattanooga, Alfred Fredrick of Chattanooga, Napoleon (Josie) Fredrick of Conley, Ga.; sister, Patricia Hutcheson of Atlanta; brother, Anthony (Lonita) Poole, Jr. of San Francesco, Ca.; 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, and friends.

Public viewing will be from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 5-6 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, at Orchard Knob Baptist Church, 1734 East Third Street.

Interment will follow at Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are by John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., Chattanooga, 423 622-9995.
