Alfred Christian “Chris” Lanier III

Alfred Christian “Chris” Lanier III, 73, of Hixson passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Chris was a graduate of Vanderbilt University and the University of Memphis School of Law. He served as an attorney for his community since 1976 practicing with Neal Thompson and Mark Rothberger before retiring in 2023. Chris was a member of the Chattanooga Bar Association and the Republican National Lawyers Association.

He was an accomplished pianist, who began playing at age five, and continued up until his death.

Chris was a past president of the Chattanooga Jaycees, and member of the Toastmasters Club. He was the president and state chairman of the Hamilton County Young Republicans. Chris was very active in Hamilton County politics.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Christian ll and Mary Louise Owens Lanier.

Chris is survived by his wife, Pamela Rocke Lanier, his daughter, Grace (John) Branum, his brother, Thomas Young (Jan) Lanier, niece, Elizabeth Statler and nephew, Lawrence Lanier.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, at 12 p.m. in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Mr. David Raines officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time at North Chapel.
